Designing the Next Generation of Bowers & Wilkins Headphones
Leading this 18-month project—from concept to final execution—was one of the most rewarding challenges of my career. The goal: to evolve Bowers & Wilkins’ iconic design legacy while pushing innovation in both form and function.
Design Development & Execution
Over 18 months, I led the project from concept to production—grounded in research, sketching, and prototyping. The goal was to retain Bowers & Wilkins’ iconic aesthetic while enhancing comfort and durability. I introduced a new CMF direction featuring ballistic nylon, elliptical earcups, and simplified construction, resulting in a lighter, more refined product that honors the brand’s legacy.
Confident Launch
Though Bowers & Wilkins entered the noise-canceling headphone market later than others, I was confident in the PX launch. More than just a stylish exterior, the PX combines thoughtful design with cutting-edge technology—delivering immersive sound, long battery life, and a refined, travel-ready form that defines modern essentials.
Ergonomic Refinement
We reduced the earcup size by over 7mm from the P7 Wireless, achieving a more compact fit. Button placement and form were refined through sketching, prototyping, and user testing to ensure intuitive use and everyday comfort.
Acoustic Innovation
We introduced Bowers & Wilkins’ first reference-grade angled driver—delivering greater spatial clarity and precision. This breakthrough, driven by competitive benchmarking and teardown analysis, marks a significant step forward in the brand’s acoustic performance.
Seamless Connectivity
The USB-C port supports both charging and digital audio, streamlining connectivity across devices. This dual functionality reflects thoughtful design integration and enhanced user convenience.
